Yard Waste Information

The City of Shawano will collect yard waste on the resident's normal collection day. Yard waste needs to be placed in paper 30-gallon capacity bio-degradable bags or plastic containers 26 gallons or less. If residents place plastic containers at the curbside with yard waste inside, a "Shawano Yard Waste" sticker must be placed on the container clearly visible to the collection crew. These stickers are available at the Department of Public Works located at 2905 E Richmond Street at no cost to the resident.

Yard Waste Rules

Please note that yard waste and leaves placed in plastic bags at the curb will be tagged and rejected by the collection crew.

Keep all garbage, metal, wood and brush out of the paper bags or containers of yard waste.

Leaves will continue to be picked up in the spring and fall by the leaf vacuums if raked into windrows at the curb or placed in paper bags or plastic containers.

Grass, leaves and garden wastes are composted at the landfill and can be taken to the landfill during normal operating hours at no cost to the resident. Finished compost is available to city residents.
