Shawano residents are allowed to use the Brown County Household Hazardous Waste Facility or the Marathon County Hazardous Waste Facility to dispose of household hazardous waste. PLEASE NOTE: THERE MAY BE A CHARGE.
Brown County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is located at 2561 South Broadway in the Village of Ashwaubenon. The contact number is: (920) 492-4964. Shawano Residents may go to the facility on Thursday's between Noon and 6 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm.
Marathon County Hazardous Waste Facility is located at R18500 HWY 29 in Ringle. It is approximately 12 miles East of Wausau on the North side of HWY 29 (1.5 miles East of the Ringle/Q exit. DO NOT take the Ringle exit. Continue past Q and turn from the left-hand turn lane directly off of HWY 29). The contact number is: 715-446-3101. Shawano Residents may go to the facility Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm. The facility is also open Saturdays from March to November from 8 am to 11 am.
Acceptable items to take there are pesticides, acids, caustics, flammable or explosive materials, infectious wastes, syringes and stains/varnishes.
Please DO NOT take LATEX or OIL BASED PAINTS to the Brown County or Marathon County Facilities. These paints can be safely disposed of by completely drying them out.
