Cleaning Up After Dogs & Cats
Owners or person(s) having immediate care, custody or control of any animal shall promptly remove and dispose of, in a sanitary manner, any excreta left or deposited by the animal upon any public or private property.
Any person violating this subsection of the City of Shawano Municipal Code shall be subject to a municipal citation. Complaints may be directed to the City Police Department at 715-524-4545.
Dogs & Cats Running at Large
A dog or cat is considered to be running at large if it is off the premises of its owner and not under the restraint of the owner or some other person who has immediate care, custody or control. Further no person owning or having the responsibility of said dog or cat shall allow the dog or cat to stray, run, or in any manner exist at large on or upon any public street, sidewalk, or public park or thoroughfare or upon any other person’s property without the consent of that property owner.
It is unlawful to abandon, within the City limits, any domesticated animal.
Dog and cats who are running at large or untagged or unidentified are subject to impoundment and the owner subject to a municipal citation.

No disassembled, inoperable, unlicensed, junked or wrecked motor vehicles, truck bodies, tractors, trailers or appliances shall be stored or allowed to remain in the open upon public or private property within the City for a period exceeding 5 days upon public property or for a period exceeding 30 days if upon private property.

Mowing is required! No person owning property within the City shall permit any weeds, grass or plants to grow to a height exceeding 6 inches. If such weeds, grass or plants exceed said height will be declared a nuisance.

If any person fails to comply, after receiving 5 days written notice to the owner, the City will mow such premises and report cost to the Clerk-Treasurer. Said cost shall be calculated on normal bill-out rates for labor and materials but not less than $150 per occurrence. The Clerk-Treasurer will then send an invoice to the owner for payment. In the event of nonpayment, such cost shall be assessed against the real estate as a special charge.

Sidewalks must be cleared! The owner or lessee of land in the City of Shawano in front of or abutting upon a sidewalk must clear the entire sidewalk of snow and ice within 24 hours after any snowfall.
No person shall deposit any snow or ice taken from their premises upon any street or alley.
