Sign Permits

Permits required for signs, canopies, awnings and billboards per City of Shawano Municipal Code Section 10-140.

Definition of a sign.  Any object, device, display, structure, or part thereof, situated or visible from outdoors, which is used to advertise, identify, display, director or attract attention to an object, person, institution, organization, business, product, service, event, or location by any means, including words, letters, figures, designs, logos, symbols, fixtures, colors, illumination or projected images.

Signs shall meet all requirements of Section 10-140 of the Zoning Code of the City of Shawano.

A permit is required for any new sign, a change of copy on any sign or for any conversions or changes in the sign structure.

The required sign permit fee shall accompany each sign application.

    Sign Permit Fee ..........................................    $40 plus $.50 per square foot
    (Fees are subject to change per Council resolution, contact Building Inspector for current fee.)

If a sign is constructed before an application is completed and approved and sign permit fee paid, the fee shall be tripled.

The applicant shall notify the Building Inspector upon completion of sign installation, relocation, or alteration for an inspection.
